Term 3 Week 6
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Dear Families,
Welcome to the Term 3 mid term newsletter. We have had a busy last few weeks with students being involved in some exciting school events, the biggest one being Book Week and Grandparent’s Day activities. I would like to thank Helena, Lisa and Meredith for coordinating and managing such a huge week of activities which started the previous week with an author visit from Nat Amoore. We have been privileged to have so many terrific authors visit us this year and impart their knowledge and inspire our children to be great writers. Thank you to all classroom teachers for their support of the Book Week events. I was unfortunately at a System’s Leaders Day on Friday so could not be here to share in the fun and activities. We are very pleased to announce that the Book Fair was a huge success and thank you for your generous support as the proceeds allow us to purchase new resources for our library.
Last week we launched our Facebook page with posts from the Book Week event. Thank you for your engagement with the page. We have several families who have opted for no photo permission for Facebook. We will diligently check the photos before posting but if we happen to make a mistake please contact us so that we can rectify the situation.
This week we were gearing up for our Stage Finals in Public Speaking. I am very impressed by the number of students who were prepared to take part in their class competitions. Today we adjudicated to choose one person from each stage to go forward to the Lower Hunter level of the competition next week. Congratulations to all students. I would like to thank the teachers for running their classroom competitions and preparing the students for this event.
We congratulated all participants on Friday at Assembly before we began the event and will post the winners of each stage on Face Book.
Congratulations to our Choir and Band groups who played and sang admirably at the Abermain Eisteddfod yesterday. Thank you to our teachers, Mrs Kleinman and Mrs Sadaj who conduct band and choir. We are very fortunate to have their expertise in our school. Amazing results from the Eisteddfod, our band placed first and also got a highly commended, fantastic achievement. Congratulations to our choir on their encouragement award. A wonderful effort.
Thank you to Mr Crich for organising the Stage 2 to participate in the Lower Hunter Gala day for Soccer yesterday. From all accounts, the day was a huge success and very enjoyable.
Next week we will be welcoming 20 plus visitors from Catholic Schools as they complete a tri-annual school visit. During their visit they will be hearing from members of the leadership team who will walk them through our journey in RE, Curriculum and Wellbeing, since their last visit in 2023. Our school leaders will welcome the visitors to the school. The visitors will visit most classrooms during their time to ask students questions about their learning. On top of that, a group of 15 students from across the grades will be asked to be part of a student voice forum and will be asked further questions about our school. If your child is asked to be part of this group we will contact you to let you know via COMPASS. If there is an issue, please contact the school office.
Father’s Day celebrations are being held on Monday 8th September as Year 5 will be on Camp and we have our special CS visit on the Friday. Many thanks to the fabulous P&F for organising the Father’s Day stall for the children to shop for a special gift for dad. I wish you a wonderful Father’s Day next weekend and hope to see you at school on the Monday for special time with your children.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the spring weather that is about to come.
God Bless,
Niamh

FATHERS DAY CELEBRATIONS

RE NEWS
FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to the children who received their First Holy Communion over the last few weekends across the different parishes of the Chisholm Region. This significant milestone in their faith journey is an important moment for both the children and their families.
First Holy Communion is a Sacrament in which children receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time. This sacred event allows them to grow closer to Jesus and experience His love in a profound way. It is not just a one-time occasion but a step toward a deeper relationship with God and a commitment to living out their faith.
We look forward to witnessing these children continued growth in faith as they nurture their relationship with God and embrace their faith more fully.
